This is the second video of the building of a PurpleHeart Keepsake Box for a friend. There is a tiger Maple panel going in the lid.
Here I show the cutting of a raised panel door for the lid, but with the rails and stiles being mitered instead of using a coping cut. This is a more symmetrical look and will look nicer on the box. I cut the miter joints on an Incra Miter 5000 sled.
I also show the cutting of the through dovetail joints. I am using a Porter Cable dovetail jig and a 7 degree dovetail bit. I also chose to have the tails on the front of the box for maximum appeal and to highlight the joinery.
Next video will be up in a day or so.
Thanks for watching.
